i need to read more books

Books on the list that I have actually read (or, in the case of The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe, had read to me):

  • Animal Farm
  • Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret
  • The Catcher in the Rye
  • A Clockwork Orange
  • The Corrections
  • The French Lieutenant’s Woman
  • The Grapes of Wrath
  • The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe
  • The Lord of the Rings
  • Neuromancer
  • 1984
  • Snow Crash
  • To Kill a Mockingbird
  • Watchmen

What really puts me over the moon is the inclusion of Snow Crash and Watchmen. Beautiful.

Jason, based on your taste in links, I’m shocked you’ve never read Catch-22. I recommend it highly, FWIW.

My list, BTW (not to show off, it’s a list compulsion): Animal Farm, The Big Sleep, Catch-22, The Catcher in the Rye, The Grapes of Wrath, The Great Gatsby, Lord of the Flies, The Lord of the Rings, Naked Lunch, Neuromancer, 1984, One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, Portnoy’s Complaint, The Power and the Glory, Slaughterhouse-Five, The Sound and the Fury, The Sun Also Rises, To Kill A Mockingbird, and Ubik.

I must add Master and Margarita, was very pleasantly surprised by this book and I think you may like.

Of the books on this list, the ones that I do want to read the most but haven’t yet are:

    - Catch-22
    - Gravity’s Rainbow
    - I, Claudius
    - Slaughterhouse-Five
    - The Spy Who Came in From the Cold

And the one book the I haven’t read but everyone has told me to read it and yet isn’t on this list is Confederacy of Dunces. Before I read this list I asumed it would be one it because everyone goes on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on about that book.

But I am pleased with the nod to Judy Blume. Holy early 80s reading, Batman.

make with the yak-yak
