the month of me: good day

Today is a good day.
It’s -10° Celsius outside, -16° with the wind chill. Cheeks are rosy and snot is frozen.
But today is a good day.
I had to get up at 6:30 am, make breakfasts and lunches, empty and fill the dishwasher, and clean the kitty litter, all before 8:00.
But today’s a good day.
I’m extraordinarily behind on all my work as Communications Director for Nationals this summer. This morning, I decided to move all of the Nationals-related emails out of my inbox into their own folder, just to get an idea of what was Nationals-related and what was relating to the rest of my life. Final tally: 9 emails for the rest of my life. 102 for Nationals.
And yet… today is a good day.
Because today is March 1st. And this is the month that Spring starts
I know, I know… Spring really won’t really start until sometime in April, and even then it won’t have a firm grip on our little corner of the world until around May.
But that doesn’t matter. Because March 1st is hope. It is a light at the end of the tunnel. Suddenly, I can see that Vernal Equinox right around the corner. See it? It’s waving at us. And behind it? I can see Rising Temperatures and that sly minx Daylight Savings coming up fast. And then? Sunshine. Leaves on the trees. Cut grass. Barbeques. Warm nights. Wearing shorts.
I can see it all.
Springtime. I LOVE it.
So today is a good day. Today, I’m skipping over the sad songs, the songs of anger and melancholy. No Portishead or Radiohead or Massive Attack. Today, I’m turning up the happy songs, the rocking songs, the dancing songs. Today, is a day for the Go-Go’s and Fat Boy Slim and the Pogues. Today, I’m going to listen to The Jam’s “A Town Called Malice” with the volume cranked and shake my head at my desk and I don’t care who sees me.
Hell, this morning I got to wake up next to My Lovely Wife. I got to wrestle a small cat with the assistance of a very thick sock. I’ve eaten Shreddies and had two cups of coffee. Today, I went to a bake sale. Tonight, I get to play Ultimate. Right now, I’m at my desk with my iPod on, listening to the Kaiser Chiefs sing “I Predict A Riot” (followed awesomely by The Apples In Stereo’s “Please”), and my toes are tapping.
And today is March 1st.
Spring is coming. Spring is coming. Spring is coming.
Today is a good day.

I’ve had so much to catch up on! Wow the insight into “Swerld” (Sween world) has been really quite interesting! Especially the acting schtuff.
Will post when I have stopped stressing about exam!
On a completely different note you popped into my mind when I realised there is a Cat Theatre.

Damn. Cat Theatre.
It’s maddening how much cool stuff I have found online since I saddled myself with these Month of Me restrictions.
I was tempted a moment to start a new blog just for posting the cool links.
I was tempted. For a moment.
Then the thought of the amount of work that would entail just getting started made my head explode. And then I had bits of brain to clean up. And that’s a mess, let me tell you.
