the old guys

all masters players at CUC2006

Wow. I didn’t see this until today. This picture is every single Masters player from this year’s Canadian Ultimate Championships, which I might have mentioned before on this site.

Can you see me?

Here’s a hint: I’m in yellow.

(Mike’s there too! Hi, Mike!)

I hadn’t seen this until today. It makes me very happy. That tournament was my very favourite tournament experience ever.

It’s also really good incentive to get off my ever-widening ass and get back in shape for next year. Since CUC ended in August, I’ve basically let myself go, telling myself that I deserved a break after all my hard work.

A break I did take. And a cake. And several cookies. And many granola bars. And cheese. And…

Heck. Let’s just simplify this process:

while ($joke_still_funny) {
   echo " And " . random_food_item() . ". ";
}

Well, after a good long break and about ten pounds (at least) gained, this week I’ve started back on my interval training. The warmer than normal weather has helped. The awareness of my belly pressing against my waistband is helping more.

I’ve got to keep the fire stoked. And the cookies at bay.

    So… as long as $joke_still_funny is ‘true’ in a ‘local’ scope i.e. amongst the tumult of voices inside one’s head… okay I think I get it.

    Yo Sween,

    When is it not cookie season? I have broken my habit of purchasing cookies from stores in an attempt to shed the fall cushion weight and subscribed to making them myself when I have an uncontrollable craving. Not only is this a hell of a lot healthier an alternative and taste way better, it also squelches the urge to eat said lardy pies – knowing I will have to labour over a hot stove myself instead of acquiescing to Mr.Spunkmeyer. (Otis Spunkmeyer Supreme Indulgenceâ„¢ Cookies, Otis Spunkmeyer®’s most premium cookie offering, Supreme Indulgenceâ„¢, is an upscale, high inclusion cookie dough that’s perfect for those who want to serve only the finest products……)

    That being said, here is my favorite recipe for Choco-chip heaven:

    2 cups flour (sifted – very important extra step)
    1 tsp baking soda
    1tsp salt

    3/4 cup white sugar
    3/4 cup brown sugar (firmly packed)
    2 tsp vanilla (go for the good stuff, no alcohol, straight up vanilla extract)
    2 eggs
    3/4 cup unsalted butter
    1 bag of bitter-sweet chips ( milk choco. chips if you prefer an inferior form of the cocao goodness )

    mix dry to wet, bake for 8 and 1/2 min. exactly at 375 degrees and enjoy

    And after that, intervals! I will have to try Todd’s interval program. It sounds like just what I need. I have been struggling with my sprinting ability, or lack there of, since starting Ulitmate. This looks like the solution… ouch!

    Actually, it wasn’t hard at all to find The Little Guy.

    RJ: I’ve tried testing it on some of my jokes, but for some reason, it keeps exiting without running…

    Brian: Holy extended comment, Batman! My addiction lately has been the Pillsbury Chocolate chip chips that are already cut into shape. I just throw them in the freezer and when I want a few cookies… BAM! pop ‘em in the oven and away we go. I keep meaning to learn how to bake my own…

    Dad: Why do I have the feeling that Jason’s Dad will start inserting that picture into EVERY PICTURE I POST ON THIS SITE? AND WHY DO I KEEP USING ALL CAPS? SOMEBODY STOP ME!

make with the yak-yak
