reasons i love my lovely wife: day 21
She is slowly allowing me to train her to accept my rewinding of movies or television when she talks over it. Or rustles a bag of chips. Or breathes loudly.
What used to result in an unrelenting barrage of ridicule and much kicking of my belly has been reduced to a mere eye roll.
I’m winning.

Lucky you! Chris’ reaction depends on the show - if it’s something like Gilmore Girls (which he rarely actually sits to watch with me) I get the full-on treatment: anything from loud sighs to sarcastic suggestions that we start the whole show over. Most other shows get some form of complaint, too. But if it’s… let’s say Prison Break, he’ll rip the remote from my hands to rewind it himself.
The only show this doesn’t apply to is Survivor, during which we both feel free to randomly comment or yell insults at the TV. It’s more of a spectator sport for us.

Can I just say that I love this series? I do. So much so that I’ll probably steal the idea from you as it gets closer to MY WIFE’s birthday in April.

Sorry, you wouldn’t last a day in my house. I Control The Remote. [end]

Sarah: We don’t have that problem, because if there is a show that she doesn’t want to watch, I only watch it after she’s fallen asleep (e.g., Veronica Mars, Mythbusters, repeat viewings of BSG). And if I don’t want to watch it, she watches when I’m at Ultimate (e.g., cheesy horror, more cheesy horror, the odd cheesy horror). Problem solved!
Suldog: Enjoy. I release free into the wild.
lightspring: Then we would mutually would drive each other kookoobananas.

No doubt. And even worse? I like to flip through all the channels repeatedly, over and over, staying about 4 seconds on each one. I have been told this is annoying to others.

That’s why I love the feature on our digital box — I can flip through the listings while the channel is still viewable in the picture-in-picture. Geek bliss.

Gotta agree with Suldog, this whole series is fabulous!

Dude. You’re not winning.
You’re dreaming.

Mabel: Mucho thanks, Bloody Bum Bug.
RJ: At least this dreamy is happy and comprehensible. Unlike the one where I was accepted onto a premier English football team but then had my cleats stolen and was locked out of the stadium and had to go through the steam tunnels… and you don’t need to know more. Too much anxiety that morning.
