I thought what suldog meant was, "Sween, as you are channeling the small one (or the large one), is a different voice or other vocal quality used to convey their message to your wife?" Obvious benefit, the voice character automatically conveys who is being spoken for, vs. you have to say "The small one wants the litter box cleaned" or "the large one says 'feed me -- now'".... They may not be able to talk, as we would interpret that term literally, but the certainly might TRY to talk, and definitely manage to communicate what they want regarding all important matters (= food) We talk to our dogs all the time - we actually get responses we interpret as relevant, the sly turn of the head, running to the back door, running to the food bowl, a bark.... Swearing cats - ooh, I like that idea.
