ADORABLE SOCK MONKEY NAMING CONTEST 2008!

Neglected you may be, but duty calls, my pearl-extruding readers.

I present you with Exhibit A:

SOCK MONKEY!
clicken to embiggen

Items of note:

  • One nephew, resembling a 1920s speakeasy bouncer, sleeping
  • One sock monkey, resembling a 1920s speakeasy sock monkey, sleeping (with eyes open, like some sort of freaky wizard)

All in all, rather similar.

However, the sock monkey is lacking in one single regard — IT HAS NO NAME!

My sisterwhoeatspoofortwo has asked me to not use my own singular talents to come up with the perfect name for the sock monkey.

No… she asks YOU for YOUR help.

In this, her hour of darkest need, you can do no less.

You… can do no less.

[Genuflects out of room.]

Oh, God, I’m the first one, eh? I guess it’s up to me to lead off with the obvious, then. How about “Stripes”?

  2. sween Says:

Ok, we have “Stripes”. Good start. But let’s keep it coming folks, we gotta WORK TOGETHER ON THIS!

    Sock monkeys don’t name themselves.

  3. Birchsprite Says:

    cheesy offering of

    ” Snuggles MacCuddleson ”

    cos they are

  4. sween Says:

Is that the old Teutonic spelling?

  5. Ali P in the Qc. Says:

    Mr Nanners

  6. Ali P in the Qc. Says:

    Socka-Toe-a
Like Krackatowa but with less emphasis on stubbed toe imagery

  7. sween Says:

    I like Mr Nanners.

Socka-Toe-A made me think of another possibility:

    “Sockagawea”.

  8. Tanya Says:

Well, the sock monkey in our house is named Mr. Murphy. Which is the name of the stuffed monkey in my oldest son’s once favourite tv show, Poko. IMO a perfect name for a monkey.

  9. sween Says:

Ok, we have some pretty former offerings here — “Mr. Nanners”… “Mr. Murphy”…

Maybe the monkey should be wearing the tie?

  10. Karen Says:

Which one is the sock monkey again?

Just kidding. You said “eyes open”.

    “Noodles.”

  11. Suldog Says:

OK, how about “Space Pants”, since the “Monkey” part is a given?

No, that would just confuse the kid. Maybe “Curious Sock Monkey?” “Mighty Joe Sock Monkey?” “King Sock Monkey?” “Son Of King Sock Monkey?”

    Stop me anyti

  12. Amy Says:

That’s a no brainier. “Poka dot”. It will raise eyebrows and it is fun to say!

  13. g-dog Says:

    “Tux”

    Easy to say
Doesn’t have to do with monkeys per se
    Not completely obvious
I like the way it sounds
Kind of sounds like “tucks” as in “mommy tucks you in”
Goes with “tails”, just like monkeys do
    OK - no good reason….

  14. Ali P in the Qc Says:

    Kong.

  15. Clarke Adams » Blog Archive » i have a sock monkey Says:

[...] didn’t know what to call it, so Uncle Monkey Pants had a contest,  Uncle Monkey Pants’ friends voted, and now my sock monkey has a name: Mr. [...]
